Former Bachelor contestant dies in a small plane crash in Los Angeles shortly after taking off from aircraft training facility

A former contestant on The Bachelor died on Monday after getting into a small plane crash. Erin Storm was flying an Airborne XT-912 light-sport, weight-shift control plane on Monday when she crashed in Los Angeles shortly after taking off from Hawthorne Municipal Airport. Storm was a contestant on season 12 of The Bachelor in 2008. She was eliminated in week three by British Bachelor Matt Grant who went on to propose to Shayne Lamas in the finale.
At the time, her occupation was listed as 'hot dog vendor'.

Since then she got a new job working as a pilot for Pacific Blue Air, an aircraft training facility based at Hawthorne Airport. A witness at the scene of the crash on Monday described the tragedy to NBC Los Angeles
Byron Mayes, who works for Best Drilling and Pump, Inc, said one of his coworkers warned him about the incoming plane.

'All of a sudden, my partner started yelling, "Watch out, there's a plane coming!" and it looked like the plane veered up, lost control and hit a couple feet away from the truck, a couple feet away from us,' Mayes said.
Mayes and his co-worker then ran over to the plane and pulled Storm out, before trying to put out the fire on her legs.
By the time emergency crews arrived, Storm was in cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to her Facebook, she was engaged to a man who also lived in Venice, California.
