LET'S BE FAIR

Tuesday March 8 will always remain a very sad day for the Management and Staff of Lekki Gardens. The tragic incident of the collapse of their building has devastated the entire Lekki Gardens family especially the young, hardworking and very humble Chairman Richard Nyong whose dream and vision is to provide affordable, quality and safe shelter for all. This graduate of Economics (Uniport) has an in-depth understanding of the desires of the average Nigerians to own affordable homes across the country. Till date he has built 6000 units across Abuja, Port Harcourt, Lagos, Ogun etc. Most of these houses are presently occupied. Then this unfortunate incident that claimed the precious and hard working lives of Nigerians and has thrown us all into mourning.
The incident is regrettable and most unfortunate. However we must not loose sight of the fact that this same company has benefitted so many families and even the country in general. We obviously understand that huge success comes with huge price.
The company is cooperating fully with Lagos State Govt and Police in all through the investigations concerning this matter. The company is assisting in every way necessary to ameliorate the hardship imposed by this accident on the injured and bereaved families.
The big question now is why is this gentle man being treated as a common criminal, handcuffed and remanded in custody? We have other instances of houses that collapsed and the builders are walking free on our streets, not even appearing personally in court. The collapse of the Synagogue building that claimed over a 100 lives is still very fresh in our memories. And the builder was never handcuffed, arrested or remanded . Why the double standard? Is this a case of selective justice? It is on record that Richard Nyong submitted himself to the authorities in prompt response to the Governor's instruction. This incident is force majeure. It was never and will never be the intention of a builder to take lives.
We are appealing to Government to free Richard Nyong. NOW.

(POSTED AS SENT, THESE ARE NOT THE VIEWS OF SPARKLE DIVA BUT LET'S DISCUSS THIS)

  1. Abeg they should free the guy while carrying out their investigation. What in heaven's name were the builders doing in the building at that ungodly hour.Officially they are not meant to be there at that time. Its so unfair treating the young man like a common criminal whereas the real and confirmed criminals are walking about freely ad birds.

  2. But seriously we shld always let justice take its place in nigeria. Becz in d past some others bail out of justice doesn't mean it shld go on like that. Builders knw they cnt afford to cut cost on materials if dats d case then he is guilty. I jst want to see a fair justices putting sentiments aside.

  3. I feel someone is after ds man's life n progress, someone just doesn't like what he is doing here, yes I know he was wrong but please he can resume from home, what happens to the Lagos state workers that didn't do their job by checking if building work has continued? They should let him be Biko.
