Married school discipline dean 'had an affair with a student, paid for her abortion - then sent her a dirty video of himself that he filmed while under investigation'

A married school dean had an affair with a student for more than two years, got her pregnant and paid for her abortion, then sent her a dirty video of himself while under investigation in a different case, investigators say. Ian Millman, 40, was the discipline dean at World Journalism Preparatory School in Flushing, New York.

He exchanged 132,000 text messages and calls with the student over two and a half years and had sex with her almost daily, according to a report by Special Commissioner of Investigation Richard Condon obtained by the New York Post.
Millman, whose job was to counsel students who had academic issues or skipped classes, got to know the girl after a guidance counselor referred her to him.

The student, who was a sophomore when the affair began, didn't talk to others and seemed depressed, Millman told investigators. She and Millman kissed for the first time after a parent-teacher conference in the fall, after which he drove her home, and had sex for the first time around Christmas, the New York Post reported.

They slept together almost daily according to the investigation report, sometimes at school, at the back of Millman's car, in a motel, at his parents' home and at one of his friends' house.
The student eventually got pregnant and Millman drove her to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Queens.

He waited outside while she had an abortion, paid for the procedure and drove her home, investigators found. Millman, who has two daughters aged nine and three, runs New York Nine, a baseball non-profit for student athletes. He had a stint in professional baseball but had to retire early because of an injury. Millman is now an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves

The Children's Dream Foundation, a non-profit for children's healthcare, honored him in March 2013, citing his 'tireless devotion to educating and motivating young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds'. The student told investigators Millman had asked her to keep their affair a secret or he would get into 'a lot of trouble', the New York Post reported.

He also told her he would divorce his wife and marry her according to the report, which was written in May 2015. The student and her mother said at the time that the relationship was not inappropriate.

Investigators found out about the affair in October 2013, after the girl had graduated. When they discovered the extensive phone record between Millman and the student, he told them he called her most mornings to 'inspire her to get up and go to school,' the New York Post wrote. Millman denied to talk to investigators according to the report and paid a $1,000 fine to the Department of Education to settle the case.

Another probe began just a year later regarding an alleged affair with a different student, which turned out to be unsubstantiated. During this investigation, Millman was placed in a rubber room, a facility where teachers are sent during proceedings. He stayed there from November 2014 to January 2015.

In the rubber room, he filmed a video of himself masturbating and sent it to the first student, the New York Post reported. Millman had previously made similar videos in his office according to the investigation report.

A third probe began in January 2015, when the mother of that student said her daughter had lied during the investigation settled by Millman. He has since given up his state teaching license and quit his job. Millman was paid $77,913 in 2015 according to the New York Post.

The report, which does not mention criminal charges, says he should remain ineligible to work at the Department of Education. Millman did not respond to the New York Post's requests for comment.
